Cosmopolis

Cosmopolis is a 2012 film directed by David Cronenberg and based on the eponymous 2003 novel written by Don DeLillo. Recounts a day in the life of Eric Packer a billionaire businessman who decides to drive across town to go for a haircut, in the middle of his trip he has encounters with various characters that bring transcendent or inconsequential messages to him. At the end of the day Erick will have to face his destiny.

Robert Pattinson Cosmopolis

The story may not be the most appropriate for a film because it’s slow, with the conditions of the book (the character is 80% of the time in a vehicle) actions are not necessarily essential and the dialog has a vital plane, perhaps for the same reason it’s not considered a very astute move to do an adaptation of this book in particular.

Juliette Binoche Cosmopolis

The performances are good: Robert Pattinson assumes challenges that throw him away from the commercial figure that launched him to fame and certainly choosing a role of this magnitude Pattinson takes the risk of losing a considerable number of fans, but also changes the category of the same. Paul Giamatti and Juliette Binoche have a short but fruitful intervention. The performances are quite theatrical, the slow pace and momentous of the dialogs and actions do not match with the ones used in cinema.

Paul Giamatti Cosmopolis

The photography is remarkable, the range of colors is very defined: the warm and cold filters are strong, you can perceived a contrast that defines the image through an exaltation of the black. Very pleasant.

It’s complex recommend this film, obviously isn’t for all audiences, although it mades society micro-portraits that gives it an interesting semantic, slowness and lack of actions can go against it. The unpredictable end is a point on its behalf and certain cyberpunk elements make it rare and striking. In short, if you like more action less dialogue this is not your movie, but if you want to see something unusual and different this may be an option to consider.

Zerorojo leaves the evaluation of this film to spectators criterion.
